H
istory of infotex!

bulletWe serve Banks, Hospitals, School Corporations, and Small Businesses, helping over 800 clients achieve ROI in their technology decisions, especially as they relate to Information Security strategy.
bulletOur roots go back to the mid-eighties, as the technology division of Bucheri McCarty & Metz LLP, when we primarily provided technology consulting services with a focus on Accounting Systems.
bulletWe started providing Information Security and Information Architecture services as infotex in 2000.
bulletWe also developed the Associate Business Model in 2000, which allowed us to bring expertise to our client, through pre-arranged subcontracts specifying quality control and confidentiality parameters, that would be impossible to provide at competitive prices through a traditional business model.
bulletWe held our first Information Security workshop for Hospitals in October 2001, and have been leaders in educating local healthcare and financial industries ever since.
bulletIn 2002, we became the first Tier 3 sponsor of Purdue University's Center for Education and Research on Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS).
bulletIn 2003 we purchased Paradigm Shift Security, a Kansas-City based Information Security Firm, and acquired their intellectual capital related to Intrusion Detection systems.
bulletWe now employ individuals with these certifications:  CISSP, MCSE, CPA, CISA, CCNE, CCDP, and CPS.  Our associates help us balance our approach with certifications, expertise, and experience that would be impossible to pull into a company our size.

Our History:
In 1978, Chuck Bucheri, Greg McCarty, and Ron Metz created Bucheri McCarty & Metz LLP, an accounting firm serving businesses and individuals.
In the late 1980's, the accounting firm created a "technology division" to respond to the needs of their clients.  They offered assistance in setting up and supporting various accounting software packages.  By 1995, Bucheri McCarty & Metz LLP had used Quickbooks and MAS90 as the two accounting systems of choice.

Then Dan Hadaway met Chuck Bucheri.  They both agreed that small businesses must focus on the USE of information rather than the technology used to process information.  Hadaway was then hired as IT Manager for the accounting firm. Shortly thereafter, Hadaway and Bucheri McCarty & Metz formed a business plan to spin the technology division of the firm off into its own company to help small businesses design ways to improve the value of information.

In 2000, infotex began engaging with clients of the accounting firm to apply a design process in the creation of Information Technology Plans.  Hadaway enlisted the support of several outside consultants, creating a team of associates to assist his clients in the strategy process.  The consulting process and core competency we call Information Architecture was successfully deployed for many clients ranging from manufacturers to healthcare to insurance providers.

Our clients were needing assistance with designing, implementing, and maintaining their computer network, leading infotex to hire Julie Tracy to head the Networking Best Practices core competency.  Julie consults with our clients and works towards helping them achieve a comfortable level of independence, depending on their individual situation.

Having improved the value of client information, a critical issue became protecting that value.  infotex contracted with Paradigm Shift Securities, headed by Matthew Jonkman, to handle issues relating to the protection and security of information, including assessment, design, and implementation issues.

By the end of 2002, all business plan objectives had been met.  Still, infotex realized that they were on the front end of a storm of demand . . . . information security would be in high demand due to regulations such as HIPAA, GLBA, and CIPA, not to mention plain common sense.  Responding to this new market condition, infotex purchased Paradigm Shift Security, giving way to our Information Security Core Competency.

infotex now has offices in Indianapolis, Lafayette, Kokomo, and Wabash.  We serve clients with our three core competencies throughout Indiana, and our Information Security Consulting services are provided to clients worldwide.

Our team has grown substantially in the last three years - from two people in 2000 to the diverse and growing team found at team.infotex.com.  And, we still provide MAS90 and Quickbooks consulting services!
