On Thursday, October 10th, Amy L. Lucas, CPA was inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame at Indiana University Kokomo. The Alumni Hall of Fame award is the highest award given at IU Kokomo. It recognizes alumni who are making a difference in their career, through volunteer work, leadership, and other philanthropic endeavors, as well as their service to IU Kokomo. Of over 16,000 alumni, there have only been 40 recipients of this award since 1992.
Amy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from IU Kokomo. Her sister and one of her daughters also graduated from IU Kokomo, which makes her part of a legacy family. Always willing to help mentor business students from her alma mater, Amy has been a strong support to the students and staff she encounters daily at Bucheri, McCarty & Metz LLP. A dedicated member of the firm for more than 20 years, she now serves as the first female full equity partner. Her passion for helping others extends beyond BMM and flows into her community.
Her support of education is notable – from her work with the Central Middle School PTA, Kokomo High School PTA, Kokomo High School Swim and Dive Booster Club, to The Crossing School of Business and Entrepreneurship Advisory Board, and the Carver Community Center Board. Helping to facilitate the Swim Booster Club at Kokomo High School, Amy assisted with fundraising efforts to ensure students who could not afford a swimsuit would have one so they could participate.
Amy believes in the Kokomo community. She serves as a committee member for the Greater Kokomo Economic Development Association Women’s Business Council, treasurer for the Kokomo Symphonic Society since 2004, is part of the Ascension Foundation of Kokomo, the Realtors Association of Central Indiana, and serves on the community promotions committee for the Kokomo Chamber of Commerce. Notably, her treasury work with the Kokomo Symphonic Society helped keep the organization going when it fell on hard times so it could celebrate its 50th season.
Despite all of Amy’s work, she has always found time to be a significant and positive influence on her community, while prioritizing being a strong, present part of her family.
Congratulations, Amy! BMM is proud to have you on our team!
